On the occasion of the Puccini Days, the Lucca Info & Guide Association organizes some guided tours to get to know the places that have seen the illustrious fellow citizen forming and growing.
The Cathedral of San Martino, where for a long time the Puccini were Masters of the Chapel and the birthplace, in Corte San Lorenzo where Giacomo was born on 22 December 1858 which today houses a museum full of testimonies, letters, scores, memorabilia, and hot atmosphere of a typical Lucca house of the late nineteenth century.
The church of San Paolino where Giacomo practiced for a long time playing the organ and where on July 12, 1880 he made his debut with "Mass to 4 voices" on the occasion of the Feast of San Paolino, patron of Lucca and that of San Michele where he gave lessons of organ.
Finally, the Teatro del Giglio in which a mature and already known Puccini staged some of his works and where, in 1958, the new gallery order was built, the centenary of his birth.
The visit will start from the ticket office of the Puccini Museum - birthplace in Piazza Cittadella in front of the statue dedicated to him, created by the artist Vito Tongiani in 1994.
