Gualtiero Passani was born in Carrara on April 19, 1926 where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. He took  Master Classes at the School of Watercolor in Vienna, where he held a solo exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art - Ungarnasse.

In 1948 he founded the "Artistic Sodality of Fine Arts ", a movement  joined by many painters and sculptors from Carrara .
In the early 50s Passani, while watching with interest the great  French painters, took inspiration from the transalpine impressionist painting.
In 1956, the Art of Passani received important acknowledgements in the “Biennal of Venice Bulletin”.
In 1960  the President of the Italian Republic Giovanni Gronchi, fascinated by the artist's originality of expression, bought some works for his collection.

While retaining, over many years of application, a proud autonomy, Passani has had the opportunity to meet and deal with artists like Arturo Dazzi, Moses Levy, Ardengo Soffici, Pablo Picasso and many others.

The works of Gualtiero Passani are exhibited, among others, in the Public Library of La Spezia,in the Modern Art Gallery of Moderna, in Palazzo Pitti in Florence, in the Italian Consulate in Vienna, in the Prints and Drawings Department of the University of Pisa as well as in many important public collections in Italy and abroad.

The exhibition is curated by Lorenzo Pacini and is part of the project S.T.ART - Save Tourism & Art.
The inauguration will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at 6:30 pm. The exhibition can be visited until January 7th, 2018.
