Geri, Bonetti, Menghino e Possenti, four great masters of XX century are on display in four great exhibitions that will be set up from December to Spring in the city's exhibition premises. The exhibition entitled Uberto Bonetti, beyond the mask will be inaugurated on December 17th at 11:00 am at the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art Lorenzo Viani where it can be visited until May, 13.

A series of works, many shown to the public only on the occasion of their donation to the town, will now be hosted in two symbolic cultural locations: Villa Paolina and the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art Lorenzo Viani. The common theme of the exhibitions will be Viareggio, the place where all the artists have lived and got their inspiration from. Among the artworks on display there will be those of the core "Bonetti and the Burlamacco's mask" namely the precious drawings, sketches and projects that tell the genesis of the famous official mask of the Viareggio Carnival.

Uberto Bonetti (1909 - 1993) was a talented painter but above all a graphic designer, who with the conception of the Burlamacco's mask tied indissolubly his name with the town and its carnival.
Author of numerous advertising posters among which almost fifty official Viareggio Carnvial posters, he has been a creative artist, a painter linked to the current of Futurism, a set designer of cinema and theater, as well as a caricaturist.
In total, the city of Viareggio has a corpus of over two hundred and fifty works chosen and donated personally by the artist.
