Official opening by the National Committee for the Celebrations of the Centenary of the Birth of Carlo Cassola (1917-1987), organized in Montecarlo, the medieval village where the writer lived the last part of his life and where he was buried.


The celebrations start with a day entirely dedicated to his memory: it is the first event of a three-year plan of initiatives putting its focus on the scientific studies carried out over the last decade around the works of the great writer, aiming at spreading them at a bigger audience and the new generation.


Program of Friday, September 15:


h 10:45: former Misericordia church ,Via del Cerruglio 33 - Sconfinamenti. Le terre lontane di Cassola -  Inauguration of the exhibition curated by Alba Andreini, which documents the reception of Cassola's works in the world, as well as Cassola's influence and relationship with writers and cultures from other countries.


The exhibition will remain open until November 5, 2017, every day, from 10:00/12:00 and 15:00/17:00
Inauguration in the presence of Minister Dario Franceschini and guided tour.


h 14:30: Teatro de’ Rassicurati, Via Carmignani 14 -  Carlo Cassola, la conquista della semplicità -   documentary by Silvana Palumbieri, tribute by Teche Rai.
Carlo Cassola ieri e oggi: una storia da Oscar -  testimonies, speeches and readings about Carlo Cassola today and in the past. Introduction by Gian Arturo Ferrari and Ernesto Ferrero. Roundtable with Anna Bravo, Matteo Marchesini, Laura Pariani, Massimo Raffaeli. Letters by Marco Toloni.
Sant’Anna di Stazzema – 25 anni fa - unpublished film with texts by Cassola (Rai, 1969).
