Starting from the village of Fornovolasco (Vergemoli), we climb along the ancient mule track that for centuries led merchants and pilgrims from Versilia to Garfagnana. Once we get to the pass we begin the ascent to our goal surrounded by immense landscapes.
Mount Forato (m 1230) and its magnificent arch suddenly appear, a surprise made of millions of years old stone. After a regenerating break, we start 'riding' ridges and beech-woods pulling us up to the feet of the Queen: the Pania della Croce. We then go back to the starting point between meadows, woods and ruins that point to a past era.
