dal 12-8-2017 al 3-9-2017
On Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 18:00, at the "Alberto Gianni" maritime museum, the art exhibit "Tra Cielo e Mare" will be opened with works of the painter Valente Taddei. A series of recent oil paintings and china on paper: synthetic narrative works, featuring a tiny individual - the unmistakable protagonist of Taddei's works - leading to a paradoxical existence, suspended between the sky and the sea. The artist proposes a metaphorical reading of the human condition, minimizing, with subtle irony, the sense of void and caducity that the Man can prove facing his destiny.
Born in Viareggio in 1964, Valente Taddei has an intense curriculum with numerous solo and collective exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. He has produced illustrations for book covers (e.g.: Mauro Baroni Editore, Viareggio, Giulio Einaudi Editore, Turin, Alberto Gaffi Editore, Rome) and for CDs, magazines (News Lavazza, Cfr :), and for websites. In 2008 he realized 10 unpublished tables for the illustration of the essay "Pandora, the first woman" by Jean-Pierre Vernant, published by Einaudi in the 'L'Arcipelago' series. He has created the logo and official poster of EuropaCinema 2013, an international film festival based in Viareggio.
The exhibition is part of the cycle "Il mare in bottiglia", curated by the Association Amici del Museo della Marineria, in collaboration with the Mercurio Arte Contemporanea gallery in Viareggio. A catalogue with a critical text by Marco Del Monte is available.
