dal 22-7-2017 al 15-10-2017
It was 10:40 pm on May 23, 1915, when two soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza, the financiers Pietro Dall'Acqua and Costantino Carta, who guarded the Brazzano Bridge, on the River Judrio, exploded the first shotguns of the Great War. Together with them, there were many mobilized financiers in the First World War, of whom many died, were wounded, mutilated, and many were awarded for acts of gallantry.
The exhibition, set in the Mont'Alfonso Fortress, has been organized by the Historical Museum of the Guardia di Finanza in the context of the initiatives of the Centenary of the First World War (2014-2018) and represents a new piece of a memorial path that has begun with the conference "The Great War Viewed by Armed Forces Historians", to which have followed other themed initiatives.
The exhibit setup is curated by Major Gerardo Severino, director of the Historical Museum of the Guardia di Finanza, and his collaborators. You can admire documents, appliances, everyday objects that will help the visitor to better understand how hard it was to serve in trenches, on high mountains or sea coasts, how ruthless the fighting, how high the price paid by our troops.
The inauguration will take place on Saturday 22 July at 5:30 pm.
To the realization of the exhibition have contributed the Municipality of Castelnuovo Garfagnana in collaboration with the Province of Lucca, the Union of Municipalities of the Garfagnana , the Tuscany Region, the Historical Documentation Center of the Garfagnana area. The economic support was supplied by the Bank of Versilia Lunigiana and Garfagnana.
