Stage of the long expected return of the artist from Livorno is the splendid Medici Palace of Seravezza, UNESCO world heritage, right in the heart of Versilia, a place where he stayed often and that he loved in one of the most creative periods of his life.
The exhibition, presented by Nadia Marchioni, can be visited from July 13 to November 5, and presents more than ninety paintings, divided into seven sections, retracing the entire artistic career of Nomellini, contextualizing it for the first time in the vibrant atmosphere of his era and revealing the dialogue that linked the painter to the masters and artists who accompanied him during the years of his education and early maturity. An original perspective, which aims to reopen a critical view on an extraordinarily significant artist in the figurative landscape between the nineteenth and twentieth century, to offer a new starting point to understand Nomellini's art.
Many masterpieces and unpublished works are exposed, ranging from the beginnings, side by side to his maestro Giovanni Fattori and the Macchiaioli artists, to Silvestro Lega and Telemaco Signorini, but also to the Florentine period in his early years together with other young artists (including Kienerk, Müller, Pellizza da Volpedo). The exhibition reveals Nomellini's attention to social problems, his gradual approach to divisionism, the symbolic declination of his vision of nature and history, arriving at the very intense period in Versilia (1908-1919) and, finally, at the works from the 1920s and 1930s, the years of his maturity.
A particular focus is put on the works of the Versilia period (e.g."La Fiera a Pietrasanta", 1912-1913), when the solarity of the Versilia coastline transformed the painter's palette into a kaleidoscopic celebration of nature and contributed to the develpoment of an Edenic view of the landscape.
Guided visits are programmed every tuesday from 19:00 to 20:00 at the cost of € 10,00. For young visitors of the exhibition, every thursday there are guided visits for children from 19:00 to 20:00, cost € 6,00, and every monday the workshop "Divertiamoci imparando" from 17:30 to 19:00, cost € 6,00. Guided visits and workshops have to be reserved.
